I am a
passionate writer and reader, have been writing short stories since the day I learned to put my imagination on paper, and as I grew my writing ambitions grew along with me. Now,
my goal has become: "be a journalist", but not just any kind of journalist.
I have made my dreams more concrete, in a way, by obtaining a
Bachelor's in Journalism from the
ISCPA school of
Paris, France. This journalism school not only helped me focus more on how to write press articles, it also allowed me to discover a hidden passion of mine: video cameras. I
specialized in documentaries and have now set
"become a documentarist" as my main long-term life goal.
With this school, I have
written three magazines as well as
filmed, directed and edited two 13 minute long documentaries.
The magazines are as follows:
- Musical Moment - an 8 page magazine about new and/or rising musicians, looking to make their way the music industry.
- Forces Armées - a 16 page magazine that I wrote with a partner about women in the French army (Air Force, Military, Navy, Police Force).
- Geekette - a 12 page magazine about the sexism that can be found in the gaming industry/world (between people who play games, in conventions, how females in games are portrayed, etc.).
The documentaries are as follows:
- Intermittence : les coulisses de la précarité (Intermittence: the Backstage to Precariousness) - a documentary about two girls, Sophie and Rose, who are both involved in the French entertainment industry and their daily struggles in life. Sophie, sound technician and single mom, is advocates for her rights. Rose, an acting student, is beginning to understand the hardships of her dream job.
- Mis à nu (Exposed) - a documentary about working conditions for porn star actors and actresses in the French pornographic industry, as well as their retraining. Richard Allan, ex-porn star now running a chocolate store explains how the industry has changed over the years, and Thierry Schaffauser, currently a porn star, talks about the working conditions.
Through several internships done for the school (at least 4 months each year for 3 years), I have worked on and improved on my writing and filming skills greatly since the first day I set foot into that school. Now I just need to be ready to face the real world.
